Terms of service
Last updated 3 October 2026.
1. About these terms
These terms govern access to and use of Notehurst (the "Service"), an independent business-intelligence service covering the UK public record, operated by an independent sole trader trading as Notehurst ("Notehurst", "we", "us"). The Service is sold to businesses only. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders (see section 4). By requesting a free week, subscribing to a plan, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and the organisation you represent.
2. What Notehurst is
Notehurst is subscription software that reads the UK public record, including insolvency notices published in The Gazette and company records and new company registrations from Companies House, and delivers a filtered, checked and ranked selection to each customer by morning email, in an online portal and as a spreadsheet export. Customers can also keep a watchlist of companies and be told when the public record about them changes. Notehurst is a business-intelligence monitoring service. It does not sell lists of individuals or contact details, is not a credit reference agency, gives no credit ratings, and does not provide financial, legal or insolvency advice. Nothing in the Service replaces your own due diligence or professional advice.
3. Plans, pricing and the free week
Current plans and prices are shown on the Pricing page and exclude VAT, which our payment provider calculates at checkout. A free week of your own filtered feed is available before any payment is taken, and needs no card. Founding prices are available to a limited number of customers and stay locked for as long as the subscription continues without a break. Products marked "Early access" are being finished and may change before general availability.
4. Payment
Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance through Paddle.com, our payment provider and merchant of record. Paddle handles payment collection, card details and VAT; Notehurst never sees or stores your card details, and your receipt shows Paddle as the seller. Paddle handles billing enquiries and processes refunds, and its Buyer Terms apply to your purchase alongside these terms.
5. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time by emailing hello@notehurst.co.uk. There is no notice period and no cancellation fee. Access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. See the Refund policy for what happens to that period's fee.
6. Acceptable use
Emails, the portal and spreadsheet exports are for your own organisation's internal use. You agree not to resell, sub-license or redistribute them outside your organisation; not to use the Service to compile, buy, sell or otherwise deal in lists of named individuals; not to attempt to re-identify, profile or make automated decisions about any individual from anything Notehurst provides; and not to use automated means to extract data from the Service beyond the exports we provide. Portal sign-in links are sent to the email address on your account and are for that person only. Watchlists have the limits shown on the Pricing page, and a daily allowance of additions.
7. Data sources
Company information comes from Companies House, published under its public data terms. Insolvency notices come from The Gazette, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0. That licence does not cover the re-use of personal data, which is one reason Notehurst works at company level only and never compiles or sells information about identifiable individuals.
8. Availability
Notehurst aims to deliver each morning email by 8am UK time, on days the Gazette publishes for Insolvency and on weekdays for Incorporations, but the Service is provided without a guaranteed uptime commitment at this stage. We will email you about a missed delivery where we reasonably can.
9. Liability
The Service is provided for information. To the extent the law allows, Notehurst's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before the claim arose. Notehurst is not liable for business decisions made on information it provides, or for inaccuracies in the underlying public-record data. Scores, reasons and cautions are indications to help you prioritise your own research.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will email the address on your account at least 14 days before it takes effect.
11. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
